Over 45 years of expertise in valve maintenance
The servicing of valves, flaps and fittings therefore barely holds any secrets for Equans. For over 45 years, we have been installing, adjusting, servicing and replacing them, in just about every possible industry, including highly regulated and controlled sectors such as chemical, pharmaceutical and food. We do this both on-site at our customers’ premises and at our own workshops. Acting quickly is paramount during industrial shutdowns. Our large processing capacity enables us to handle large assignments properly and quickly. Moreover, we have experience and know-how when it comes to unique custom-built valves. This diversity and our approach make us a partner for both large refineries as well as mcrobreweries.
Specialists in all types of valves
Industrial valves are broken down into three families:
- Shut-off valves: these regulate the through-flow of solids, liquids or gases. Shut-off valves can be opened or closed.
- Control valves: allow for the through-flow of solids, liquids or gases to be modulated. Should a lot or little go through? Fast or slow? Control valves are regulated either manually or automatically.
- Safety valves: ensure the safety of your installation. For example, they can be set to open when the pressure exceeds a particular value.
Equans is an authorised partner for quite a few manufacturers and brands of shut-off valves, flaps and valves. Baker Hughes, for example, is a manufacturer with whom we have a close partnership for many years.
All the expertise in-house
Industrial valves are affected by factors such as temperature, pressure and contact with chemicals. Which means they need to be overhauled at regular intervals. As part of the overhaul process, they are sandblasted, milled, ground or welded. All of which in accordance with legal and customary procedures and specifications.
Equans is your one-stop solution for all your valves, flaps and fittings, regardless of manufacturer. Because of our size, we have all the expertise in-house and do not need to call on sub-contractors.
All valves treated at Equans are also uniquely logged, which ensures that the history of each valve is known. In other words, each valve has its own service booklet.
In Belgium, Equans' valve division has sites in Zwijndrecht, Desteldonk, Terneuzen and Ans (RISterm). They specialise in servicing shut-off valves for the manufacturing industry and are a familiar and trusted face at power plants, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, water treatment, food industry companies, iron and steel mills, incineration plants, paper mills and printing works, cement plants and quarries, etc.
Determine the optimum lifespan of your valves
Properly working control valves are crucially important in any process installation. Valve failure due to wear and tear or lack of maintenance can have dire technical and financial consequences. Proper follow-up is a necessity. This can also be performed via remote monitoring.
The lifespan of a valve can be extended with properly scheduled preventive maintenance. This can help reduce the total cost of ownership for the owner. In addition, valves with a longer lifespan make for a smaller carbon footprint.
Which means it comes down to determining the tipping point at which a valve is best overhauled or replaced. Equans is continuing to rack up expertise in association with valve manufacturers to determine this tipping point for customers.
Quick service during shutdowns
Companies that need to shut down installations for servicing want them back up and running as soon as possible afterwards. Our large testing capacity enables us to quickly determine which control valves need be overhauled and which need to be replaced. After treatment, we provide certification either ourselves or through an authorised organisation, so customers can safely restart their installation.
24/7 service
Equans has around a hundred dedicated field technicians ready to take care of customers’ valve maintenance across Belgium. This includes 24/7 service with rapid intervention capability. After all, a breakdown or problem always comes unexpectedly.
