The BNP Paribas’ head office at Montagne du Parc, has a new look. EQUANS has participated in the creation of this iconic new office block, sustainable and secure, and will be responsible for maintenance of its facilities for five years.
After a number of successive phases of work, this emblematic building, open to the public at several points, will soon be 100% operational. With a state of the art energy-saving heating system, solar panels, LED lighting, data connections, etc. The EQUANS teams have devoted their expertise to creating this impressive site and during the next 5 years, they will also be responsible for maintenance of this office block’s technical facilities, far superior to the norm.
Understated and safe
The new building has been constructed on the site of BNP Paribas Fortis’ former offices. In partnership with VMA, EQUANS has handled the complete electrical portion of the project on behalf of the construction company EIFFAGE. A noteworthy element: installation of 461 photovoltaic panels on the roof. Inside, the light fittings are 100% LED. This accounts for more than 5000 lighting points compatible with circadian (artificial daylight) technology. In security terms, the installation of CCTV cameras, an intruder detection and burglar alarm system and the access control system have also been set up by our teams for perfect safety of the occupants.
Hyperconnected
And that’s not all! From the multimedia installation in the auditorium or the meeting rooms, to the KNX lighting control for the atrium, and finally the wiring for the GTC (Building Management System) etc. Nothing has been left to chance. Regarding data, more than 12,000 connection points and 160 Data Racks have been installed and interconnected by our workers via a redundant optical fibre network. Our dedicated team, working directly for BNP Paribas Fortis, was also responsible for setting up the servers and fitting out the offices.
Seven times less energy use
Last but not least: still on behalf of EIFFAGE, our teams also installed the block’s HVAC systems. The use of a Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage (STES) system is the most notable feature. This installation is made possible by the presence of a water table nearby. This feeds a 14,000 m³ reservoir, which heats and cools the block by heat exchange between the water contained in the reservoir, heat pumps and the building. Thanks to this ingenious system, energy consumption has been reduced by a factor of seven compared to the former building. All this without CO2 emissions.
Guaranteed comfort!
With five levels below ground and nine storeys above, the new office block will have capacity for approximately 4100 workstations, in other words 70% more than before. From the moment the first occupants move in, another mission will keep the EQUANS teams busy. Responsible for preventive and curative maintenance of the facilities (electricity, HVAC, toilets and technical parts, with a “handy man” team) on behalf of BNP Paribas Fortis, our colleagues will ensure the systems operate properly for at least 5 years. Through this contract, the occupants of BNP Paribas Fortis’ new head office will therefore be certain to enjoy all the comfort that this new building offers. Both environmentally friendly and functional, it will reach its full capacity during 2022.
